“The face in the mirror. From the moment Laura sees it, she knows it’s an omen. That very day, the sinister Carmody Braque touches and brands her little brother, and as Jacko fights for his life, Laura seeks out the one person who might help, even though the path she is about to take will change her forever.”
So last week I posted The Great NaNo To-Do List, which summed up all the things I hope to do as part of my NaNo prep. It ranged from the basics, like coming up with a title (something I always find hard) and writing a blurb (something 1000 times harder still), to making music playlists and media I’m going to consume to help get me in the mood.
So it’s just over a month now until NaNoWriMo. Eep. I wrote a little about it previous, and since then have made some decisions. Yes, I am going to do NaNo. Yes, I have decided what I am going to write. And yes, I am terrified.
Of course, with the decision to do NaNoWriMo comes at least a little bit of planning. I’m not talking about coming up with a great big outline, but getting a few little things done now so I don’t have to worry during the month of November. So behold: The Great NaNo To-Do List (2016 edition)!
So, like any good bookworm, I have a to-real pile. Although when I look at it properly – and especially if I were to add in the ebook library – it would be more like a tower. There are a lot of memes out there dedicated to showing off unread books, but if I were to give one book a week some focus it would take forever. And I suspect I am not the only one in this position.
Anyone who knows me knows I am up for checking out any book that has to do with vampires. It’s just one of my things, you know? Some people like their billionaires, others their cowboys, and others still Highlanders or Vikings. Me, it’s vampires. So of course I was going to read a romance manga with vampires in it.
Many years ago, in the earlier days of my book blogging career, I was of the belief that it was my duty to finish every book that came my way for review. (I wasn’t one of those bloggers receiving multiple books a week, which made the idea seem quite feasible.) It was a holdover from my regular reading habits, where I managed to finish everything – mainly because I was pretty good at picking out books that I would, at the very least, quite like.
Did I get your attention with that post title? I hope so.
I like to make book covers (see my portfolio for more examples of my work) and now I have begun practicing formatting entire ebooks because that’s a useful skill to have, right? So behold the results of my first serious experiment: The Blue Fairy Book by Andrew Lang.
From five songs about vampires, to five terrible-amazing book title puns, Five-Day is the Friday-specific post series where I bring you five items on a theme. What’s the theme this week? Podcasts I Like!
I’ve wanted to go to Disneyland for as long as I’ve been aware of such a thing existing, and the same is true for Walt Disney World too. Being in America only seemed to add to the magic: they were literally in a land far far away. So I contented myself in watching the movies, singing along to the songs, and imagining what it would be like when I one day got to go to the magical kingdom.
We’re less than two months away from NaNoWriMo and yet it seems both nearer and further than it actually is. Then again, the year in general has gone by strangely fast – despite not much happening (at least for me). It’s a terrifying thought, that time and life is passing me by without experiencing much at all.
